When you have two minutes and zero patience, a scrunchie messy bun is the answer. It is gentler on hair than a tight elastic and the fabric adds instant volume at the base.
Two-minute steps
- Gather hair into a high or mid ponytail with a scrunchie—wrap twice, not three times.
- Loop the ponytail through the scrunchie a final time but pull only halfway for a loose bun shape.
- Pin the underside if needed, pull one face-framing piece, done.
This version is supposed to look undone, so resist over-pinning. One or two pins at the nape of the bun is enough for most hair types. Save the detailed pinning tutorial for days when you need all-day hold.
